Our Mission

OUR MISSION

Nehemiah was founded in 2009 with the mission to build brands, create jobs, and change lives.

We are led by a team of seasoned CPG executives with a proven track record of success, who share a passion for making a positive impact in our community. Nehemiah partners with companies and entrepreneurs to license/acquire small brands, innovate new product concepts and contract manufacture products.

Nehemiah is committed to bringing manufacturing jobs back to the inner city of Cincinnati to stimulate community development and economic growth. We worked closely with the City of Cincinnati, community leaders and social service organizations to select our location in the West End / Over-The-Rhine area of Cincinnati. Our location is surrounded by neighborhoods with high unemployment and limited entry-level job opportunities.   We team with a number of local social service agencies in close proximity to our location, including CityLink, St. Vincent DePaul, Jobs Plus and City Gospel Mission to identify and develop team members.

Nehemiah is led by CEO, Dan Meyer. Dan has over 30 years of consumer packaged goods experience and has held senior management positions with large, multi-national companies and, over the past 17 years, co-founded two start-up, entrepreneurial companies.

SECOND CHANCE STORIES

Many employees who come to Nehemiah Manufacturing just need a chance to prove themselves. They may show up with a spotty work history – or no work history – or a record blemished in some way. These hard-to-hire candidates are invisible to most companies. But not to us. Because we know giving people a chance is the right thing to do.

The rewards over the past five years have been amazing. In this group, we find rare diamonds – some of the hardest working people we’ve ever seen. In proving themselves, these employees become fiercely loyal – insistent on high quality; positive teamers who help each other; hard chargers who self-sacrifice for the success of all. Sound like family? It is.

Take a look at some of our Second Chance Stories. We’re including them here to inspire other companies who share the heart of this mission to have the courage to live it out. You’ll read stories of dreams recovered. Families reunited. Hope restored. Stories of quiet heroic virtue that will restore your faith in what’s humanly possible.

ON A MISSION

Growing a business on a mission to make a difference.

Building Brands… Creating Jobs… Changing Lives…

Building Brands… Nehemiah’s team has deep expertise in consumer packaged goods. Based upon a proven track record within the leadership team at Nehemiah, Procter & Gamble awarded Nehemiah the license to manage the Pampers Kandoo line of toddler products in 2009, helping launch our growth.  Nehemiah continues to work with P&G and other companies to license/acquire brands and launch new product concepts.  We design, manufacture, market and sell brands in a variety of product categories (See Our Brands).

Creating Jobs… Nehemiah is focused on creating job opportunities for individuals in the inner-city of Cincinnati. By growing our brands and serving others, we are creating a variety of job opportunities for those individuals who have challenges finding employment.  Nehemiah teams with local social service agencies who serve individuals with criminal records, gaps in employment, and other barriers to finding meaningful work.

Changing Lives… Nehemiah employees are part of our family.  We promote a positive work environment and provide whole life coaching to help improve employees’ lives.  Through our on-site social worker, company grill outs, Christmas with Santa and other Nehemiah functions, we work to create an atmosphere where employees can succeed and grow.

Why Nehemiah?

Nehemiah was a prophet in the Old Testament who was called by God to bring safety, commerce and community back to the city of Jerusalem. Nehemiah was a great leader who cared for his people and rallied the inhabitants of Jerusalem to rebuild the walls to protect their city. Like Nehemiah, we feel called to rebuild the city by giving people jobs and a renewed hope for the future.
